UPDATE: Android 5.0 Lollipop is officially announced with the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9.

Android L, the next version of Android is expected to be released very soon. Google themselves have released a video teasing what the next candy or confectionery version after KitKat could be. If you’re still guessing, someone has managed to spot a line of code on Android.com which indicates that Android L could end up being called Lollipop.

Apart from having a new operating system, Google will be continuing its Nexus line up with the introduction of Nexus 6 phablet by Motorola and a Nexus 9 tablet by HTC. After seeing leaked photos of the Nexus 6, serial leaker @evleaks has sprung into action, revealing the official press render as shown above. Like its current Moto X, it gets dual-front stereo speakers and the 5.9″ display dominates a large area of the front. This would mark the first Nexus phablet and it is said to be pushing an ultra high Quad HD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels.

Meanwhile the Nexus 9 is seen to be a performance beast with an updated 64-bit Tegra K1 chipset that could be mated with 4GB of RAM. Rumour has it that reveal of the Android L along with the new Nexus devices could be a low key affair with just a simple announcement online.
