OPPO N3 to feature a larger 16MP 1/2.3″ camera sensor

More details of the upcoming OPPO N3 have been trickling in. Ahead of its global launch, OPPO’s CEO Tony Chen has revealed that the upcoming N3 will feature a larger 1/2.3″ camera sensor that’s capable of shooting 16MP pictures. Through his Weibo account, he mentions that the N3 promises superior imaging capabilities thanks to a bigger sensor. The main differentiator is definitely its swivelling camera, making this a capable selfie-centric device.

The 1/2.3″ sensor size is similar with Sony’s Xperia Z1, Z2 and Z3 which is larger than most smart phones that usually comes with a 1/3.06″ image sensor. Meanwhile both the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 cameras are having 1/2.6″ sensors.

Since the N3 would be OPPO’s high-end device for the next 6 months, the specs are speculated to include the latest Snapdragon 805 processor that’s mated with 3GB of RAM. Meanwhile the display is likely to retain the same 5.9″ Full HD screen as its current Oppo N1. We’ll find out more in 2 weeks time.
