Xiaomi wants to enter your home with a range of smart devices

Xiaomi is rapidly increasing its product offering beyond smart phones, tablets and wearables. After introducing its wireless game controller and blood pressure monitor, they have set their sights on the smart home with 4 new devices – Ants Smart Webcam, Mi Smart power plug, Yee Smart light bulb and Mi Smart remote centre.

For a start, they are offering 100 units of its smart webcam and smart power plug for free next Monday.

Smart Web Cam

The Smart Webcam is basically a multifunction CCTV that take videos at HD 720p resolution with a wide 111 degree angle lens. Being an internet connected device, you can take a peek of your home directly from a smart phone app. If you don’t have time to monitor your home, the camera has motion detection built-in which will alert you if there’s something moving in its sights. In addition, it also works as a 2 way communicator so you can listen and talk through the camera unit which is pretty neat. The saved video footages can be saved locally onto its memory card or onto a network storage within your home for better privacy.

Smart Socket

Need to control your existing home appliances remotely? The Mi Smart Socket is a wireless power socket adapter which lets you control its usage remotely from your smart phone or with a scheduled timer. The design is not only compact but is compatible with various international plugs. There’s also a USB power output interface that pushes 5V/1A.
