Sony QX1 Interchangeable E-Mount Lens Style Camera is now available for pre-order in Malaysia

If you always wanted to have a better camera on your smart phone, the Sony QX1 Lens Style camera should be on top of your consideration list. Succeeding from its earlier QX10 and QX100 Lens Camera, the latest QX1 boast a 20.1MP mirrorless APS-C sensor, a built in flash and it accepts a wide array of E-Mount lenses for more possibilities. The QX1 is now available on pre-order in Malaysia and it is priced at RM1,399 for the body only. As comparison, the previous QX10 was priced at RM699 while its bigger QX100 is sold at RM1,499.

Also available is the QX1 lens bundle kit that comes with a 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS E-mount Power Zoom Lens at RM1,699. The combo for an extra RM300 is not bad considering the lens is sold separately at RM1,199. If you pre-order from now until 20th October, Sony is also giving additional 8GB microSDHC Memory Card worth RM39. Deliveries will start after 20th October.

Like the earlier QX Lens Camera series, the QX1 is compatible with Android and iOS devices. It connects to your smart phone using WiFi and pairing is made easier by tapping via NFC. When we gave it a try during IFA 2014, the QX1 is pretty easy to use but we noticed there’s a lag when you attempt to take a picture from the paired phone. We would recommend using the physical shutter button on the QX1 for a faster response. With the inclusion of a pop-up flash that was lacking in the previous QX series, you can now take pictures with assisted flash in low light situations. For the hardcore enthusiasts, the QX1 also allows RAW format and it is also capable of shooting videos at Full HD 1920×1080 @ 30fps.

Since it uses E-mount, owners of Sony NEX or newer Alpha series can easily switch their lenses over to the QX1. Essentially you can now transform your existing smart phone with DSLR like capabilities. You can check out the full spec details over here.

If you’re interested, you can place an order at Sony’s QX1 product listing. For credit card holders, they are also offering 12 months 0% instalment plan.
