A lot of people standing in line for the iPhone are scalpers

Where enthusiasts hold out on the new iPhone, scalpers fill the void looking to meet the demand for customers who don’t mind paying an arm and a leg for Apple’s latest wonder phone. Film producer Casey Neistat has captured the early moments before the first wave of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus went on sale in New York City and it highlights just how bad the situation is. Instead of having long lines of enthusiastic Apple fans, the crowd turns out to be something else.

In the video, it showed a group of people presumably mainland Chinese that have been queueing up for at least 2 days. If you think the grandma that queued up for an iPad 2 was bad, the first in line at an Apple Store in New York was an elderly Chinese woman who can’t speak English. When interviewed, they refused to say if they are reselling and insists that they are buying for themselves or for their loved ones.

The video you see here is a stark contrast from previous iPhone releases. Pure Apple die-hards who will brave the elements to be the first to own the newest iPhone are now are replaced with scalpers who don’t care about the device but instead are looking to make a quick buck. Does this mark Apple’s decline from an untouchable icon, reduced to nothing more than just a fad?
