Samsung is finally catching on with the Selfie trend starting with its Galaxy Note 4 which now comes with a larger 3.7MP front facing camera. To fight off with other affordable selfie centric smart phones like the Xperia C3, HTC Desire 820 and Oppo N1 mini, Samsung appears to be working on a new Galaxy Grand Prime which comes with a larger 5MP front facing camera.
In terms of specs, the Galaxy Grand Prime appears to be an entry-level device which slots below its current Galaxy Grand 2. Instead of a HD 720p display, the Galaxy Grand Prime is said to have a modest 5″ qHD (960×540) display with a Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 processor that’s mated to 1GB of RAM. The spec sheet continues with 8GB of on-board storage, 8MP main camera, microSD expansion slot and it has support for dual-SIM cards.
According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Grand Prime which carries the model number SM-G530H is expected to be announced soon. A quick check on our local SIRIM’s database has also revealed that the device has been certified along with another model (SM-G357FZ), which is likely to be the enhanced version of the Galaxy Ace 4.
So looks like there will be 2 new affordable Samsung smart phones that’s coming to Malaysia. A couple of weeks back, they had announced the 4″ Samsung Galaxy V, which is probably their one of their most affordable Android smart phone to date. At RM299, the Galaxy V is venturing into the entry-level ZenFone 4 and Moto E territory.
