Uber trials food delivery with UberFresh in the US

Uber is not just a transportation company and their platform is geared up as an on-demand provider beyond cars. They are now experimenting with food delivery service at Santa Monica in the US which aims to deliver lunch within 10 minutes right from your smart phone.

As it is a trial run, they are doing this for less than 2 weeks with a fixed daily menu that’s priced at US$12. Unlike other food delivery service, UberFresh would only deliver to your front lobby so you would need to collect your food when the vehicle arrives. Like its car service, the transaction is done directly to your linked credit card and there’s no additional delivery fees. Sounds like a good idea if they could reduce the waiting time which normally takes up to an hour with the usual food delivery providers.

These are some of Uber’s experiments and occasionally they run special on-demand delivery including Uber ice-cream and Flowers on Demand during Valentine’s day. In KL, you could also use Uber as an urgent on-demand delivery service. Just request for a car and give them instructions on where to deliver your package and you could even share the trip with your recipient for them to track. In case you haven’t heard, Uber is now rolling out in Johor Bahru and they are offering free rides until the end of August.
