When your smart phone gets damaged or simply fails at critical moments, the extra protection helps you to get going with immediate replacement and it costs from as low as 50 sen a day. They will even provide a replacement SIM card if you lose your device completely and there’s no more waiting for warranty and repair claims.
The protection coverage is provided by Brightstar and there are 2 plan options available depending on the value of your device.
The levels of protection are the same and for devices that cost less than RM1,000, it would cost RM15/month to insure. For more premium devices above 1,000, that would cost almost double at RM29/month. The protection service is limited to devices purchased via Maxis with an active subscription plan. To activate, you can do so at Maxis Centres or calling their hotline at 123.
To claim for a replacement, you’ll need to pay 25% of the current value of the device as a claim excess fee and there’s a one time charge of RM100 for express replacement. Overall this is still cheaper than buying a brand new smart phone. The replacement devices are likely to be refurbished devices as the site states that they are almost new or as good as new.
