UPDATE: Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 is now available in Malaysia.
The 6.3″ Samsung Galaxy Mega that offers big-screen experience in a mid-spec offering is expected to be replaced very soon. Dubbed as the Galaxy Mega 2, the new model is speculated to be slightly smaller at 5.9″ which puts it on the same level as the HTC One Max and the Oppo N1 in terms of size.
Powering the device is said to be a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 2GB of RAM as well as support for 4G LTE. Being a mid-spec offering, it comes with 8GB of storage that’s expandable with microSD and along with a 12MP or 13MP shooter. The original Galaxy Mega was available in two sizes – 5.8″ and 6.3″ and looks like Samsung is striking the middle ground with a 5.9-incher model.
According to Sammobile, we can expect the launch of the Galaxy Mega 2 very soon as its official firmware which coincidentally is for Malaysia has been released. The Galaxy Mega 2 will be running on the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat along with its TouchWIZ UI.
When we did a check on SIRIM’s certification database, the Galaxy Mega 2 with the model number SM-G750F has been certified last month along with its Galaxy Ace 4 (SM-G313F). It shouldn’t take too long for this new mammoth device to hit our local shelves.
