UberX officially rolls out in Kuala Lumpur


Uber’s low cost offering, UberX is now officially launched in Malaysia. You get the same cash-less convenience and reliability as their UberBlack rides but at a cheaper rate. All drivers undergo stringent checks and riders are also able to rate their ride after each trip.

The UberX fleet in KL consists of standard vehicles including Perodua Myvi, Nissan Almera and Toyota Vios that are clean and well maintained. It was initially open to selected users and now anyone can choose UberX within its official app.

In terms of rates, UberX charges RM1.50 for its base fare followed by RM0.20/minute and RM0.55/KM. It is in fact cheaper than budget taxis and best of all, there’s no extra surcharge after midnight. Payments are made automatically with your saved credit or debit cards so you won’t need to worry about small change.
