Smart phones are no longer just playthings and they can be serious tools in the field. For the handyman, fixing problems around the household can be a daunting task especially when dealing with elements invisible to the naked eye.

Introducing FLIR One Thermal Imager, a special accessory that gives your iPhone 5/5S additional pair of eyes. Its built-in thermal cameras makes it easy to spot for water and air leaks as well as abnormal overheating from electronics. For enhanced clarity, it also uses the iPhone’s camera making text readable on the display.

With the FLIR One, you can just point to any object within 15 feet and it can even tell you the temperature quite accurately. On the fun side, this is pretty useful for hide and seek, or tracking wild animals at night without a touchlight.

The FLIR One is currently available in the US and it retails for US$350. Check out its demo video and official images after the break.
