The HTC J Butterfly was one of the first smart phones with a Full HD display. Now there’s a new J Butterfly in Japan and it gets HTC One M8 specs in a plastic body. Not to be mistaken with the affordable HTC One E8, the new J Butterfly gets a Duo Camera set up but this time it consists of 13MP + 2MP instead of the usual 4MP Ultrapixels on the One M8. Being a Japanese market device that’s exclusive to telco KDDI, the J Butterfly is waterproof certified with IPX5/IPX7 rating.
Over at the front, it gets a 5″ Full HD Super LCD 3 display and it is surrounded by its signature Boom Sound stereo speakers. Underneath, it runs on the similar 2.5GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage. Like the One M8, it also gets a microSD expansion slot which supports up to 128GB. For taking Selfies, there’s a front facing 5MP camera.
Out of the box it runs on the latest HTC Sense with Android 4.4. With the end of Beats and HTC partnership, the J Butterfly also comes bundled with JBL’s High-Performance In-Ear Headphones. For fast connectivity, it even supports both LTE-Advanced as well as WiMax 2+. With a larger 2,700mAh capacity battery (HTC One M8: 2,600mAh), the J Butterfly weighs 156 grams with a thickness of 10mm. With the HTC One E8 coming to Malaysia, there’s no word of HTC introducing an international variant of the new J Butterfly.
