Before the arrival of Xiaomi and Huawei’s entry-level smart phones, the Motorola Moto G was a game changer with its decent offering that came with an attractive price. In fact, it was doing very well in a lot of markets and became Motorola’s best selling smart phone ever.
With new cheaper alternatives flooding the market, Motorola is seen to be preparing for its new Moto G successor. Carrying the model number XT1068, the photo above is reported to be the new Moto G replacement model. In terms of design, it retains the same curvy shape but gets a more prominent earphone and microphone grill at the front. Spec-wise, the Moto G appears to have retained the same proven Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 processor, a HD 720p resolution display and dual-SIM card capability. The only noticeable upgrade is its 8MP camera which should offer a big improvement over the current 5MP shooter. It may not sound much but hopefully the price would be a deal breaker once it goes on sale in Malaysia. Its closest competitor in terms of spec is the Xiaomi Redmi 1S which offers a faster 1.6GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage for just RM419.
Just recently, Motorola has released its refreshed Moto G with 4G LTE and microSD slot in Malaysia at RM799. While it looks more expensive than other cheap and cheerful offerings in the market, the Moto G 4G LTE edition is among the cheapest 4G LTE smart phones you can buy right now. Another plus point of buying a Moto G is access to the latest Android updates. A few days go, they had rolled out its Android 4.4.4 update to Moto G users in Malaysia.
