If you’re looking for a cheaper way to own an iPad in Malaysia, it looks like there will be an option to purchase a certified pre-owned unit very soon. One of our readers have spotted a Refurbished iPad section on Apple’s Online Store but the image is not linked properly at the moment.
According to Apple’s Certified Refurbished FAQ, some of these units were returned due to technical issues which have been resolved under strict Apple quality control. Before it goes on sale, it is treated like brand new product where it undergoes testing, repackaging and it even gets a new serial number.
Obviously the main benefit is getting substantial savings over an actual brand new unit. For greater peace of mind, it is also covered by a standard 1 year limited warranty as you would have on a fresh new product. So far there’s no details of when Apple will commence such sales in Malaysia but we reckon stocks would be very limited. You can check out yourself at the iPad section of Apple’s Malaysia Online Store.
