With instant sell-out success with its Mi 3 smart phone, Xiaomi will be increasing its smart phone line up in Malaysia with the Redmi 1S and the Redmi Note. For those who are using 2 SIM cards, you’ll be happy to know that both Redmi 1S and Redmi Note comes with Dual-SIM capability.
Just moments ago, they had posted a teaser on their website asking people to guess the price of the Redmi Note. In China, the Redmi Note is priced at 999 Yuan while the Redmi 1S is at 799 Yuan. Like any Xiaomi products, the pricing is very close to its mainland China so you can probably predict how much both devices will cost when it goes on sale in Malaysia.
Redmi 1S
The Redmi 1S is an entry level device that comes with a practically sized 4.7″ display that does 1280×720 pixels resolution. Instead of the MediaTek processor that’s found on the original Redmi, the Redmi 1S runs on a proven 1.6GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM and comes with a larger on-board storage of 8GB. There’s also a microSD slot and the Redmi 1S accepts up to 64GB capacity.
Being a entry level device, it gets a 2,000mAh capacity battery, a 8MP camera that shoots pretty decent image and a front facing 1.6MP camera. Being a Qualcomm device, the Redmi 1S is currently running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with MIUI on top. In China, the Redmi Note is available in low spec (1.4GHz Octa-Core + 1GB) and high spec (1.7GHz Octa-Core + 2GB) variants. For Malaysia, Xiaomi is bringing in the high-spec model which uses MediaTek’s MTK6592 Quad-Core processor clocked at 1.7GHz. It gets 2GB of RAM and also 8GB of storage which can be expanded with microSD up to 32GB.
The camera is uprated too with a 13MP main unit and a larger 5MP camera for selfie.
