Xiaomi Redmi Note gets certified by SIRIM. Official sales coming soon

Apart from the Redmi 1S, Xiaomi is also preparing to release another smart phone in Malaysia. After Redmi 1S’s appearance, another Xiaomi model gets listed today which bears the model 2013121. This is the high-spec version of its 5.5″ Redmi Note.

Announced about 3 months ago, the Redmi Note comes in 2 versions – a high-spec model featuring MediaTek’s 1.7GHz Octa-Core processor with 2GB of RAM and a low-spec version which runs on a 1.4GHz Octa-Core unit that’s mated to 1GB of RAM. The rest of the specs for both models are identical with the front 5.5″ IPS display doing 1280×720 pixels resolution, 13MP main with 5MP front facing camera, 8GB of on-board storage and a large 3,200mAh capacity battery. There’s also an expandable microSD and Dual-SIM slots which one supports 3G while the other with 2G.

In China, the high-spec RedMi note is sold at 999 Yuan (about RM520) while the lows-spec unit is priced at 799 Yuan (about RM415). The Redmi Note was a hot seller in China with 100,000 units sold out in just 34 minutes.

Since Xiaomi priced their products similarly in all markets, expect the Redmi Note to be priced about RM520-550 when it goes on sale officially. Just a few days ago we’ve seen some grey-importers selling the same model at RM599. So with the Redmi Note coming into the picture, Xiaomi will be having a full range of entry, mid-tier and high-spec models available with competitive pricing. The high-end Mi 3 smart phone is now revised to just RM769 while its entry level Redmi 1S is expected to be priced around RM420.
