The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom will be available in Malaysia starting next week on 21 June. The 4.8″ smart phone with a 20.7MP main camera and 10X Optical zoom is priced at RM1,699. Its Shimmery White colour unit will be available first on 21 June while its Charcoal Black version is released later on the 26 June.
To recap on the specs, the Galaxy K Zoom is the replacement of the former Galaxy S4 Zoom which prides itself as the only photography centric smart phone with an Optical Zoom lens. On the smart phone front, it gets a 4.8″ HD Super AMOLED display that pushes 1280×720 resolution and powering it is a Hexa-Core Exynos processor which consists of 4 Cores running at 1.3GHz and another 2 Cores at 1.7GHz. It is mated to 2GB of RAM and comes with 8GB expandable storage that supports 64GB microSD. Keeping the device up and running is a moderate 2,430mAh capacity battery.
The main 20.7MP camera at the back uses a 1/2.3″ BSI Sensor and is enhanced with Optical Image Stabiliser. If you need illumination, the Galaxy K Zoom uses Xenon Flash which is better than your typical LED lights. For shooting videos, there’s no 4K support but it is capable of shooting Full HD 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second. Out of the box, it runs on the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat and comes with the similar Galaxy S5 features such as Ultra Power Saving Mode and S Health Lite. With an optical zoom lens, the Galaxy K Zoom is thicker than your average smart phone at 16.6mm and weighs 200 grams.
