ASUS ZenFone 5 official units now available in Malaysia with 2GB RAM

The ASUS ZenFone smart phone series created quite a buzz a few months back with decent performance offered at an affordance price. After much delay, the ASUS ZenFone 4 finally went on sale in Malaysia last month while the stock availability of its bigger ZenFone 5 & ZenFone 6 remains still unknown.

If you are still waiting, the ASUS ZenFone 5 appears to be officially available in Malaysia with couple of retailers offering it online. While the previous RM599 ZenFone 5 that was announced earlier came with just 1GB of RAM, the new batch that’s available comes with 2GB instead. You can check out the full specs of all 3 models here.

The rest of the hardware remain unchanged with a 5″ IPS display that does 1280×720 pixels resolution and Intel’s 1.6GHz Dual-Core Atom Z2560 processor with 8GB of on-board storage. Also retained is a 8MP main camera that is enhanced with PixelMaster technology and it is accompanied with a 2MP front facing unit. Unfortunately the price is RM100 more at RM699. During its regional launch, the ZenFone 4 is priced at RM299 while the ZenFone 5 is priced at RM599 for its 1GB RAM version. The top of line ZenFone 6 with its 2.0GHz Dual-Core Atom processor and 2GB RAM is priced at RM899. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can watch our hands-on with all 3 models here.

You can check out the ASUS ZenFone 5 listing from Gadget Village and SatuGadgetDotCom. Interestingly ASUS last week had also introduced the ZenFone 5 with 4G LTE support and uses a more mainstream Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor.
