When watching videos on Youtube, you would normally get a simplified option of standard, HQ or HD playback. Now the latest YouTube app (version 5.7) offers more streaming quality options like what you would normally get on the desktop.
While this gives you more freedom of choice, the highest quality available is capped at HD 720p even with videos of higher quality such as Full HD 1080p or 4K 2160p. Nevertheless, it is still an improvement over the current version. The YouTube update is rolling out in phases so it might take awhile before it arrives here. If you insist on getting it now, you can download the latest YouTube app manually with the help of an APK converter.
