By the numbers: HTC One E8 vs One M8 and other flagship smart phones compared

The HTC One E8 is a cheaper alternative to the metal clad HTC One M8. While the 5″ display, internal hardware and BoomSound stereo speakers are retained, the HTC One E8 ditches the Duo Ultrapixel Camera set up for a 13MP BSI f/2.2 unit and comes in a lighter plastic body. As it is making its debut in China, the One E8 comes with Dual-SIM slots. The first nano-SIM slot supports 3G/4G LTE, while the secondary slot settles for 2G connectivity.

To see how it stacks up against the rest, we compared the vital numbers of the One E8 against its One M8 sibling and the rest of the high-end smart phones today. You can click on the image above for a larger view. With the One E8 using polycarbonate plastic, it is 15 grams lighter than the One M8 but gains 0.5mm in thickness. Another difference not shown here is the lack of IR Blaster and MHL connectivity on the One E8 which are present with the One M8.

In terms of price, the HTC One E8 is said to be priced at 2,800 Yuan in China. That’s about RM1,445 when converted directly and almost a thousand Ringgit cheaper than its metal clad brother. If it is RM800 cheaper than the One M8, would you go for the cheaper and plastic alternative? That price alone would definitely give even the Oppo Find 7a a run for its money.
