LG G3 now official with 5.5″ Quad HD display and 13MP OIS+ camera with Laser Auto Focus

LG has finally revealed to the world its latest G3 flagship smart phone. The biggest highlight of course is the front 5.5″ Quad HD display that does an epic 2560×1440 pixels resolution which delivers a pixel density of 538ppi. Underneath it runs on the top of the range Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with Quad-Cores running at 2.5GHz.

Interestingly there are are 2 variants available – a higher spec version with 3GB RAM and 32GB of on-board storage and a lower variant which settles with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. Fortunately both are expandable with microSD card up to 128GB. Until this point, the LG G3 has a lot of hardware similarities as the Oppo Find 7.

The back camera is another key highlight. With LG still pushing Optical Image Stability in their top end models, the 13MP shooter on the G3 features an improved OIS+ (Optical Image Stabiliser) and now it is accompanied with a new Laser Auto Focus. This allows you to capture moments quicker with minimal motion blur. It also gets a dual-LED flash as well for better lighting. At the front, it gets a 2.1MP front facing shooter with f/2.0 aperture. The loudspeaker is still the same 1W unit that’s found on its LG G Pro 2 but this time is can be further boosted to 1.5W when needed.

In terms of design, LG tries to make the 5.5-incher as compact as possible with thinner bezels and it lacks the traditional front capacitive buttons for a smaller design. The removable back cover has a metallic skin which offers lightweight and better feel in the hands. Also retained is LG’s signature back keys which consists of a volume rocker and a power/action key. Underneath it also gets a 3,000mAh removable battery and still maintains a slim 8.9mm profile and weighs 149 grams. In terms of colours, the LG G3 is available in Metallic Black, Shine Gold, Silk White, Moon Violet and Burgundy Red.

Accessories wise, the LG G3 has a QuickCircle smart case which lets you perform vital tasks while the screen is being protected by its cover. Since it supports Wireless charging, they have also introduced a cleverly designed phone stand which lets you use the device while it’s still charging.

LG hasn’t been active in our Malaysian market so we dont’t expect the G3 to make it here through official channels. However you can count on grey importers like DirectD and IPMart who can make it possible to own one locally.
