Xiaomi starts Mi 3 online sales at 12PM on 20th May. Here’s what you need to know

UPDATE 3: 3rd online sales is happening on 3rd June (Tuesday) at 12PM. 5,000 Mi Power Bank available.

UPDATE 4: Xiaomi is selling 7,000 units of Mi 3 smart phone at RM769 on 17th June at 12PM. Also available is 10,000 units of 10,400mAh power bank and 5,000 units of 5,200mAh version.

The highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi 3 smart phone will be going on sale Malaysia at exactly 12PM on 20th May at RM889. Also on sale is its affordable 10,400mAh Power Bank at RM36. It is happening at their official online store at mi.com/my.

For smoother purchase experience, Xiaomi has revealed more information on what you to prepare for the big day.

Registration of Xiaomi Account

As a new user, you would need to register for an account at account.xiaomi.com. During sign up, you will need to verify your mobile phone number and email address. We suggest that you do this now ahead of actual sales day.

Payment via Paypal

Xiaomi will be using PayPal which also accepts normal credit cards during the sale. For quicker transaction, it is recommended that you create a PayPal account now with a credit card linked. Linking a credit card might take time depending on your bank. The benefit of having a credit card linked PayPal account is that a transaction is just a login away and you don’t have to fumble around with 16 digit numbers, CVV code and billing info. Debit Cards are accepted too but you need to check with your bank as some cards are not be activated for online transaction.

Placing your order

Adding item to cart does not confirm your order and you must complete the process to secure your unit. Xiaomi has updated that there’s a max limit of 1 unit of Mi 3 smart phone per order and 2 unit of Mi Power Bank per order. Only Silver colour is available for both smart phone and power bank.

Shipping Availability

Xiaomi ships nationwide except for addresses located at Pulau Ketam in Selangor and several smaller towns in East Malaysia including Lubok Antu, Limbang, Lawas, Lamag and Pamol. You can get the full list here.

Xiaomi aims to be deliver your items within 6-8 working days after it gets shipped from their warehouse.

UPDATED – Shipping Cost

Shipping is FREE for the Mi 3 smart phone. However orders with lower values will be imposed a charge as follows:
Klang Valley – RM15 shipping fees for orders below RM 70
WEST Malaysia – RM15 shipping fees for orders below RM 75
EAST Malaysia – RM25 shipping fees for orders below RM 80

What is included in the Mi 3 box?

Tracking

Xiaomi uses FedEx and UPS to ship their products and the shipping code will be emailed to you. You can track or enquire your shipment with the details below:

Receiving the product

Do check for any visible damage on the packaging. If it has been opened or showing signs of damage, you are advised to not to accept and acknowledge the package. Let the courier return the damaged box and contact Xiaomi for replacement.

Save the Date

Remember, it is happening on this coming Tuesday, 20th May at 12PM. There will be 4,000 units of Mi 3 Smart Phone and 5,000 units of Mi Power bank available on that day. In Singapore, the Mi 3 smart phone was snapped up in just 2 minutes. According to their forum, you can login with your Xiaomi login before 12PM to save time.
