Nokia Lumia 630 Dual-SIM and Nokia XL quietly goes on sale in Malaysia

The Nokia Lumia 630 will be launched in Malaysia next week but now it appears that its Dual-SIM variant has been spotted in stores at RM549. Pricing wise, it is quite close to its announced US$169 price tag during the recent Microsoft Build.

For those who have been waiting on the Nokia XL, it has been spotted as well but carries a hefty price tag of RM599. That’s about RM100 more than its announced 109 Euro pricing during Mobile World Congress. The Nokia X family was supposed to fill the gap between the low-end Asha range and Windows Phone platform. At such pricing, it is even more expensive than their latest entry level Windows Phone 8.1 device. Now it is even harder to justify the Nokia XL among the cheap and cheerful Android smart phones priced below RM600.

To recap on the specs, the Lumia 630 comes with a 4.5″ IPS display that does 854×480 pixels resolution and it runs on a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 512MB of RAM. It gets 8GB of on-board storage, a microSD slot, 5MP camera that can shoot 720p HD videos and a 1,830mAh battery. The key highlight of the Lumia 630 is that it runs on the latest Windows Phone 8.1 OS and it is also the first to offer Dual-SIM capabilities, which is vital in emerging markets.

Meanwhile, the Nokia XL comes with a larger 5″ display with a low 800×480 pixels resolution and it runs on a lower end 1.0GHz Snapdragon S4 processor mated to 768MB of RAM. It only gets a tiny 4GB of storage with microSD slot and a 5MP camera that only shoots 480p videos.

Being a forked Android device, the Nokia XL isn’t the droid that you’re looking for. If prefer Nokia’s services with a Lumia UI, the Lumia 630 would be a better device and it is cheaper too.
