Official specs of the Samsung Galaxy K zoom revealed

Samsung today lifted the covers off the GALAXY K zoom. Successor to the Galaxy S4 Zoom, the Galaxy K zoom continues the point-and-shoot camera-smartphone hybrid device theme with a 10x optical zoom lens (24-240mm, F3.1-6.3) in a body that mimics the Galaxy S5 in design.

The 4.8-inch Galaxy K zoom also packs a 720p HD Super AMOLED display, Xenon flash, optical image stabilization, a full HD 1080p video recording at 60fps, a 20.7-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and Android 4.4 KitKat. Smart features first seen in the Galaxy S5 like the Ultra Power Saving Mode and S Health Lite are also present.

Powering the device is a hexacore processor (1.3GHz Quad-Core + 1.7GHz Dual-Core Processor) with 2GB RAM. On board storage is small with 8GB built-in. Expect much less to be available for you to use. Thankfully there’s a microSD card slot that takes up to 64GB cards but we’d prefer the Galaxy K zoom support 128GB cards like the Galaxy S5. The battery is an ‘ok only’ 2,430mAh in capacity.

Taking advantage of the above average — for a smartphone — optics is a new camera mode called “Pro Suggest”. “Pro Suggest” analyzes the scene being capture and optimizes camera parameter to deliver pictures that Samsung say delivers “optimal pro results”.

For selfie addicts you can take advantage of the 20.7-megapixel 1/2.3″ back camera with the Selfie Alarm feature. To capture special moments in an instant, the Galaxy K zoom features Instant Camera mode that switches on the camera by pressing the volume and power button.

No word on when the Galaxy K zoom will be coming to Malaysia or how much it will sell for when it gets here but we’re betting you can buy it in time for the Raya season.

Head on over to after the jump for a brief look at the Galaxy K zoom.
