The latest Sony Xperia Z2 comes with a number of new camera features. It’s Background Defocus which allows you to blur the background for a bokeh effect is now made available as a standalone app for older models.
The app is available at the Google Play Store but is limited for Sony Xperia devices running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and above. After installing, it will appear as another feature in the camera UI.
To use this effectively, you would need to have steady hands when taking the shot. It is recommended to keep a distance of 15-45 cm from the actual subject while the background is at least 5 metres away.
To see how it works, check out our hands-on demo after the break.
