Samsung Gear Fit updated with vertical display orientation

Samsung’s Gear Fit Sports Band is a cool looking sports band which is able to tell the time and even your heart rate. The front touched-enabled curved AMOLED display gives it a unique look that stands out from rest. However when you tilt your wrist to take a peek, the portrait display orientation on the Gear Fit can be awkward to look at.

Now Samsung apparently has recognised this usability gripe and the Gear Fit was spotted in Korea to display information in vertical mode. While this works well with Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters, it might be a squeeze for long English text or other in alphabetic language as the display pushes a narrow 432×128 resolution. Not sure if this will be rolled out internationally but it would be great if they give users the choice to switch orientation.

The Gear Fit is priced at RM599 in Malaysia and it will be available starting tomorrow together with the Galaxy S5. You can check out our first impressions of the sports band here.
