Sony Xperia Z2 available locally through grey importers

The waterproof Sony Xperia Z2 hasn’t been launched in Malaysia just yet. If you can’t wait, it is now available through grey importers such as DirectD at RM2,499. Obviously this is a premium to pay to be an early adopter. Best of all, they are selling the Purple colour unit which is a rare colour. While it isn’t supported by Sony officially, it comes with a local 24-months warranty via Brandstar.

To recap, the Xperia Z2 comes with a 5.2″ Full HD display and runs on a newer 2.3GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor. Unlike the Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8, the Xperia Z2 is more generous with 3GB of RAM. New on the latest model is a pair of front stereo speakers and a built-in Digital Noise Cancellation that works with an optional set of earphones. They have retained the same 20.7MP camera as the Xperia Z1 but now it is capable of shooting a higher 4K resolution video.

You can check out our hands-on of the Xperia Z2 which gives a brief comparison with the current Sony Xperia Z1.
