Run An Empire turns Fitness into a Competitive Game

Keeping fit has always been a priority in mind but many find it hard to motivate themselves to start or to maintain their routine. There are dozens of fitness apps available and even smart phone makers have introduced fitness tracking features and wearable accessories like the Gear Fit. For those wanting to stay in shape, here’s a Kickstarter idea that motivates you to run with elements of gamification.

Run An Empire is a mobile gaming app that’s focused on fitness with a touch of social. Like the name suggests, you can conquer real world areas around you by simply running around to secure your space. The more times you run, the more fortified your boundaries will be. At the same time, there are others who can take over your space if they run across your area. So this allows you to strategise, either to defend your space or conquer new areas by running at new territories.

In case you’re wondering, the app calculates your run with the phone’s GPS and accelerometer. To avoid cheats, it is able to detect fake movements on a bicycle or car. For bikers, they might introduce Ride An Empire later on if this project is successful. The game works internationally and not just in the UK.

For now, they are planning to develop the game on iOS first. An Android version is considered if it reaches a stretched goal of £25,000. Currently they have managed to exceed their initial goal of £15,000 and there’s 8 more days to go. If you’re interested to back this idea, head over to their Kickstarter page.

Check out the Run An Empire video after the break.
