Alcatel launching Octa-Core powered One Touch Idol X+ and One Touch Idol Alpha this Friday

Alcatel is set to launch two new Android smart phones in Malaysia. The first device is the One Touch Idol X+ which boast a powerful Octa-Core processor while the next is the Idol Alpha that’s crafted with transparent elements. So far Alcatel has made its name with affordable smart phones and they aspire to release more upmarket models moving forward.

Alcatel One Touch Idol X+

The One Touch Idol X+ is seen as an update over its existing One Touch Idol X. While it retains the same 5″ Full HD IPS display, the new models get a huge boost in processing power with Mediatek’s Octa-Core (8 cores) MT6592 processor that’s running at 2GHz.

It retains the same 2GB RAM, 16GB of storage with expandable microSD slot, a main 13MP camera and 2MP front facing shooter. In case that extra fire power would consume more battery, the Idol X+ packs a larger 2,500mAh capacity battery which is 500mAh more than the current Idol X. Overall, it is still weighs 130 grams but comes with a slight bulk of 7.9mm thick (Idol X = 6.9mm).

Alcatel One Touch Idol Alpha

Next is the One Touch Idol Alpha which is a smart phone that appears to be focused on premium design. It is wrapped with an aluminium frame and comes with an interesting transparent element top and bottom which is reminiscent of Sony’s Xperia NXT transparent belt design.

The front comes with a 4.7″ IPS edge to edge display that does 1280×720 pixels resolution. Internally it runs on a modest 1.2GHz Quad-Core Mediatek MT6589 processor with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It also gets a 13MP rear camera but over at the front it comes with a 1.3MP camera that does HD 720p videos. Packed with a 2,000mAh battery, the Idol Alpha weighs 117.4grams and is 7.5mm thick.
