Like the previous Samsung Galaxy S4, the new Galaxy S5 will be branching out with several sub-models as well. The photo-centric Galaxy S4 Zoom will be replaced soon with a new model that’s likely to be called as the Galaxy S5 Zoom.
Based on information obtained from a benchmarking site, the new model is rumoured to be having a 20MP camera that shoots 5184×3888 resolution pictures and records video at Full HD. The screen is now larger at 4.8″ with a 720p HD resolution. Powering the device is a Hexa-Core Exynos 5 processor that’s likely to be the same unit that’s running on the Galaxy Note 3 Neo. There’s 2GB of RAM and over at the front it comes with a 2MP camera. There’s no mention of its Optical Zoom lens and we expect it to retain a Xenon Flash light for better night shots.
In the current Galaxy S4 Zoom, it comes with a 16MP camera bundled with a 10X Optical Zoom which is a first for a smart phone. On the smart phone side, it has a 4.3″ qHD display and runs on a rather moderate dual-core 1.5GHz processor with 1.5GB of RAM. The Galaxy S4 Zoom is a rather bulky device and it looks rather silly to hold when making phone calls.
We are curious if Samsung has finally what it takes to beat Nokia’s superior PureView camera phones. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out our camera comparison against the Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1520.
