Looks like Malaysians don’t need to wait that long for the Samsung Galaxy S5. The latest Samsung flagship will be launching on the 27th of March, ahead of its earlier 11th April international availability. This puts Malaysia among the first wave countries to get the device similar to previous Samsung launches. The full launch details will be revealed next week.
What can be certain is that the big 3 telcos in Malaysia – Celcom, DiGi and Maxis will be offering the Galaxy S5 on contract. Looks like what Maxis had teased isn’t that far from the truth.
To recap on the device, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has improved tremendously over its predecessor which comes with an integrated fingerprint scanner and a heart rate sensor. Its front Super AMOLED screen is slightly bigger at 5.1″ that pushes a Full HD resolution of 1920×1080. Powering the device is a rather capable 2.5GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor from Qualcomm with 2GB of RAM.
The camera has been bumped up as well to a 16MP shooter using its own ISOCELL technology and is able to shoot high resolution 4K videos. Battery capacity has been increased to 2,800mAh but you can stretch the battery life further with its rather clever Ultra Power Saving Mode. On the plus side, it also comes with water and dust resistance rated at IP67.
