Running out of smart phone battery during emergencies can be a disaster especially when you don’t carry a bulky battery pack with you. To avoid such situations, Go Design has introduced TravelCard, a rather flat battery pack that’s about the same size as a credit card. Designed to fit in a standard wallet, you can be rest assured that your smart phone can be juiced up adequately with its 1,300mAh capacity Lithium Polymer battery. Since its slim, you can probably fit this in the standard office tag ID holder.

In terms of size, it is 4.77mm thick which is about 5-6 credit cards stacked together and weighs 56.7 grams. At 1,300mAh capacity, this should be able to give about 50% of battery life on most high-end smart phones today. There are 2 versions available, one with a lighting cable with Apple’s Made for iPhone (MPI) approval and a microUSB version for Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone devices. The design looks like a business card holder with a aircraft grade aluminium that comes with a choice of White, Black, Silver and Sapphire Blue colours. There’s even LED lights to show current battery levels as well.

If you wish to pledge, you can head over to their Kickstarter page. The early bird units have been snapped up and it will cost US$40 to pledge for one. At time of posting, the TravelCard has garnered almost US$40,000 of pledges exceeding its US$10,500 goal. The TravelCard is quite a simple idea that’s more affordable and practical than the Solar Charging Watch we saw earlier.

Head after the break to watch the demo video and product pics.
