In a recent announcement, Sony has a five device lineup coming to Malaysia in April but has not revealed any pricing information. However we’ve managed to obtain the almost confirmed pricing of the Xperia Z1 Compact and the Xperia M2.
The Xperia M2 is Sony’s mid-tier contender. It features a 4.8-inch qHD (960×540) display, a Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 processor that’s clocked at 1.2GHz with 1GB of RAM. There’s 8GB of on-board storage ad support for microSD. On the front is a basic VGA camera and over at the back is a 8MP camera that shoots 1080p full HD video. Like the high-end Xperia Z2, the Xperia M2 also comes with some interesting camera features like Timeshift Burst and Social Live.
Additional features include NFC and 4G LTE connectivity as standard as is the 2,300mAh non-removable battery and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean but the M2 is not water- or dust-resistant. If the information we’ve gathered is correct the M2 is expected to retail for under RM1,000.
In the meantime, don’t forget to check out our Xperia M2 hands-on here.
Announced at CES in Las Vegas earlier this year, the 4.3-inch Xperia Z1 Compact is Sony’s answer to those who want a powerful smartphone in a smallish form-factor. The Xperia Z1 gets the same speedy and battery frugal 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage as well as the 20.7MP f/2.0 G Lens rear camera with BIONZ and Exmor RS first seen in the Xperia Z1.
There’s also LTE, NFC and a sizable 2,300mAh battery all packaged in a robust IP58-rated waterproofing that’s only 1mm thicker than the 5-inch Z1. The Triluminos display now has IPS (thankfully addressing the very narrow viewing angles plaguing displays on Sony devices) but its a 720p unit instead of the full HD 1080p screen on the Z1. The Z1 Compact gets new colour options as well including a bubblegum pink version just for the ladies. The information made available to us say that the Xperia Z1 compact will retail for RM1,800
