At the recent Mobile World Congress, Sony has also announced the Xperia M2 which is a mid-level smart phone with 4G LTE. At first glance, it looks like a slightly smaller version of the earlier swim-friendly Xperia Z flagship device but don’t be mistaken, this device isn’t water resistant. In terms of positioning, the Xperia M2 seems to be a notch below the Xperia SP which is also a mid-tier 4G LTE device launched at RM1,299.
The Xperia M2 comes with a 4.8″ display that pushes a modest qHD resolution of 960×540 and underneath it runs on a Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 processor that’s clocked at 1.2GHz. On-board it has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board storage which can be expanded with microSD. You’ll get a basic front facing VGA camera and over at the back there’s a 8MP camera that shoots video at Full 1080p HD resolution. Like the high-end models, it also comes with some interesting camera features like Timeshift Burst and Social Live.
It also packs NFC and 4G LTE connectivity as standard for faster downloads. Juicing up a device is a 2,300mAh battery which is non removable and it runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Overall it is 8.6mm thick and weighs 148 grams.
