Qualcomm too has gotten their hands in the wearable device business with their Toq Smartwatch. While it is only available in the US, we’ve managed to get a hands-on at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The Smartwatch comes with a 1.55″ Mirasol Technology display which uses Ambient light for natural illumination. Unlike the Pebble smartwatch, the front display is a touch screen enabled with colours and boast a long 6-7 days of battery life.
Apart from telling the time, it also allows access to your phone contacts, calendars, weather updates and music control. The watch comes with a clean buttonless and there’s a touch sensitive pad right below the screen. Interestingly the strap also doubles up as a toggle for back-light illumination and menu by tapping on either top or bottom strap with your finger. There’s no unsightly ports on the watch as charging is done wirelessly via WiPower LE dock. At US$249, the Toq Smart watch offers more functionality compared to the similarly priced Pebble Steel.
Check out our hands-on video and photos of the Toq smartwatch after the break.
