Baby monitors are essential for parenting. Now you can turn any Android device into a remote baby monitor with Dormi. It works not just on WiFi but with 3G/4G mobile data as well. All you’ll need to do is to set up a parent and child unit which runs at least Android 2.3 Gingerbread and you’re good to go. And yes, you can use tablets as well.
Once paired, the app will monitor for any noise coming from the child unit. The microphone sensitivity can be adjusted to ensure the right balance to pick up audible noise. Another neat feature is that you can use the parent unit to comfort the baby remotely via Push to Talk. Similarly you can use the Push to Talk method to listen what’s going on at the other side. More than 1 parent device can be connected to the child unit just in case you need an extra pair of ears.
While running, the app also provides some vital stats of the child device including room temperature and battery life percentage. If there are any miss calls or SMS on the child unit, you can view them directly from the parent device as well. The app claims tto consumes just 10% for an hour of usage.
It is free to download but it is limited to 4 hours a month. If you need more, you would need to pay for a subscription fee of $0.99 per month or $4.99 per annum. If you liked the app and plan to use this for long term, there’s a one off $6.99 unlimited usage option. For more information, head over to Dormi.
