Huawei has shared today that they will be expanding their presence rapidly in Malaysia. Since its debut of its Huawei Ascend P6 last July, the Chinese manufacturer has been stepping up in terms of brand awareness and touch points. For 2014, it aims to set up more than 100 stores nationwide while increasing a number of 4G connected devices into our market.
According to several market research and analysts, Huawei is currently ranked third in Smart Phone shipments last year and have posted the highest increase year on year among smart phone vendors. In the 4G LTE landscape, Huawei claims to have deployed nearly half of total LTE networks and their devices are used by more than 110 operators worldwide.
They are also the first to launch 4G LTE Cat 4 device which includes their 4G enabled MiFi.
Locally, the brand awareness for Huawei is still low but they remained confident to be a major player with increased investment in marketing and a line up of new high end flagship devices.
When asked about their 2014 product line up, Huawei says that they will be announcing a number of smart phones, tablets and even wearable devices at the upcoming Mobile World Congress. We are eager to see what’s new and they might probably reveal the Ascend P7 next week.
During today’s event, Huawei has also announced the winners of their global Unlock Possibilities competition. Among the 3.8 million entries worldwide from 32 countries, the 2 grand prize winners came from Malaysia which drove away a Mercedes-Benz E200 worth RM366,888 each.
