HTC’s upcoming affordable Desire 8 phablet gets leaked

While the spotlight is on HTC’s upcoming flagship the M8, the Taiwanese maker has acknowledged the importance of entry to mid level smart phones to drive sales. The leaked image above is said to be HTC’s upcoming mid-range phablet which is rumoured to be called as the Desire 8. This could go head on with affordable big screen devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Mega and Nokia Lumia 1320.

Details are rather scarce right now and the new Desire 8 is alleged to have a 5.5″ display with a 13MP shooter at the back and a front facing 5MP camera. Coincidentally, the upcoming HTC M8 mini is rumoured to feature the same 13MP + 5MP camera combination. In terms of design it looks pretty sleek and could be following Nokia Lumia approach of having multiple colours in red, yellow, orange and blue and green.

The front also reveals a button-less design following its new approach of using virtual on-screen and it also retains HTC’s signature front facing Boom Sound stereo speakers. In terms of availability, the displayed March 18th date on the screen could possibly be its tentative launch date. The 2 mobile signal icons also indicate that it will support dual-sims.
