The Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to launch in less than 3 weeks at their upcoming Unpacked 5 event in Barcelona. While the device is still a well kept secret, a New York Times report has revealed additional details through a source that’s close to Samsung.
The new Galaxy S5 launch is said to be low-key compared to previous Unpacked events and they confirmed improvements in camera as well as processor. The Galaxy S5 is speculated to run on either a Exynos 6 or Snapdragon 805 processor depending on variant while the camera is said to be sporting a 16MP sensor. Interestingly, the report downplays speculation of a higher QHD (Quad-HD) display and they are expecting Samsung to stick to the mainstream Full HD 1080p displays. It also shot down rumours that an eye scanner would be introduced in the new flagship device.
The Galaxy Gear smart watch which was introduced 5 months ago is expected to be replaced with a Galaxy Gear 2 sequel. The new watch is expected to pack more features and we hope a much longer battery life with water resistance would be included.
Just a reminder that the Samsung Unpacked 5 event is happening during Day 1 of MWC 2014. It will be streamed live on YouTube on 25th February 2014 at 3AM.
