DiGi offers Motorola Moto G on contract from RM0

The affordable Moto G is now available for contract on DiGi. The cheap and cheerful Android smart phone is offered for free with DG’s Smart Plan 88 or RM398 on Smart Plan 58. On DiGi, they are only offering the 8GB version in Black which retails at RM698. As comparison, the bigger 16GB unit is retailing at RM798.

In terms of contract, DiGi is only offering a single 24-month tenure for both DG Smart Plan 58/88. For the Smart Plan 58 at RM58/month, you’ll get 2GB of data which is split (1GB for Social + 1GB for everything else) and 200 minutes of calls with 200 SMS within DiGi network. The higher Smart Plan 88 offers double the internet quota at 4GB (2GB+2GB), 300 minutes of calls and 300 SMS that’s open to all networks.

During sign up, DiGi is asking for an upfront payment of RM629 on Smart Plan 58 and RM712 on Smart Plan 88. That’s more than the actual price of the phone but the savings actually goes back as a monthly rebate taken from upfront payment. If you’re an existing DiGi subscriber of at least 12 months, the advance payment is waived.

To recap, the Moto G comes with 4.5″ 720p HD display and runs on a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM. Juicing up the device is a generous 2,070mAh battery and runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. It packs a decent 5MP camera that shoots 720p HD videos and if you worry about the lack of microSD card slot, there’s 50GB of Google Drive cloud service that’s free for 2 years.
