The Sony QX100 & QX10 Lens Camera is a unique add-on photography accessory that works with existing Android and iOS smart phones. Now Kodak is joining the bandwagon with its PixPro Smart Lens Camera. Like the Sony, it comes in 2 models – SL10 which features a 10X Optical Zoom and the SL25 model with a 25X Optical Zoom.
Actual details of Kodak’s lens camera is scarce and they have yet to release any information of its sensors or sample pictures. What we know right now is that it will support both Android and iOS devices and it latches onto your smart phone with a retractable fold out clip.
Photos and videos are stored using microSD and it is managed through a mobile app using WiFi. Both cameras are also capable of shooting Full HD videos at 1080p resolution. The SL10 uses a 28-280mm lens while the SL25 is wider & longer at 24-600mm. Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) also comes as standard.
The SL10 is priced at US$199 and the SL25 at US$299. That’s roughly RM659 and RM990 respectively when converted directly. The Lens Camera is slated for Spring availability which is sometime after March 2014.
As comparison, the Sony QX10 is going for RM699 with a 18.2MP 1/2.3″ Sensor with 10X Optical zoom while its higher end QX100 price tag doubles up at RM1499 with a 20.9MP 1″ Sensor and 3.6X Optical Zoom. You can check out our hands-on with the Sony QX100 Lens Camera here.
