Just a little over a month after its official global announcement at Nokia World 2013, Nokia’s largest smartphone is available in Malaysia. The Lumia 1520 gets its official Malaysia launch today and will be available in stores early December with a recommended retail price of RM2,159.
The Lumia 1520 is the largest Windows Phone to date, it packs a full HD 1080p 6-inch display pushing out a pixel density of about 367ppi (in comparison the 5.9-inch HTC One Max pushes 373ppi, the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3 386ppi while the 6.4-inch Xperia Z Ultra pushes 344ppi). Speaking of displays, the 1520’s display features a rather unique Assertive Display technology that offers superior outdoor visibility performance compared to other display technologies by tweaking the contrast ratio of individual pixels instead of simply increasing display brightness. You can watch a demo comparison of the Lumia 1520’s display versus a Note 3 here.
The 1520 is also the first Windows Phone device to pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 powerhouse quad-core processor running at 2.26GHz with 2GB of RAM. Seeing as how Windows Phone devices can perform smoothly even with dated processors, you can expect the 1520 to be blazing fast with the top-of-the-line Snapdragon processor.
Going a full 12 or 14 hours on a single charge is going to be easy with the Lumia 1520 thanks to the massive 3,400mAh battery and that frugal Snapdragon processor. Other goodies include built-in wireless charging, LTE support, four microphones for multi-microphone noise reduction during video recording and voice calls, and Nokia newest PureView camera sensor. There’s also 32GB of on board storage with support for microSD cards up to 64GB in capacity.
The 1520’s 20MP PureView camera has all the bells and whistles more powerful stablemate, the Lumia 1020, including optical image stabilization and oversampling capabilities albeit at only 2x as opposed to the Lumia 1020’s 3x lossless zoom prowess. At the front you get a 1.2MP wide angle camera that’s capable of shooting 720p videos. For a detailed spec-to-spec comparison of the Nokia Lumia 1520 with other top-end smartphones go here.
The Nokia 1520 is now available for pre-order from DiGi online store and Nokia Stores nationwide starting from today.
