UPDATE: Nokia Lumia 1520 officially launched in Malaysia at RM2,159.
The massive Nokia Lumia 1520 will be officially available in Malaysia pretty soon. Nokia Malaysia has just indicated via Facebook that pre-orders of its latest 6″ flagship will commence this week but details of placing a booking has yet to be revealed. This is probably one of the fastest roll out for a Nokia Windows Phone as it was just announced last month at Nokia World 2013.
The Lumia 1520 is the largest Windows Phone with a 6″ Full HD display pushing a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. This gives it a rather high pixel density of 367ppi (pixels per inch) which is rather close to the 5.9″ HTC One Max (373ppi) and 5.7″ Galaxy Note 3 (386ppi). For greater outdoor visibility, it comes with a rather unique Assertive Display technology which tweaks its pixel contrast ratio instead of increasing the brightness. You can watch a demo comparison of the display versus a Note 3 here.
With its eyes set upon today’s large smart phones such as the Galaxy Note 3, Nokia is not taking any chances and they have stepped up with a quad-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM. If the 32GB on-board storage isn’t enough, it also comes with a microSD slot for expansion up to 64GB. Juicing up the Lumia 1520 is a rather generous 3,400mAh battery which is 50% more than its current Lumia 1020.
In the camera department, the Lumia 1520 is a step down from its current epic 41MP shooting Lumia 1020. Instead it features a rather capable 20.7MP shooter with a sensor size of 1/2.5″. This makes it rather close with the Sony Xperia Z1‘s 20.7MP shooter with a slightly larger 1/2.3″ sensor. It also come with Optical Image Stabilisation and Zeiss optics as well. You can check out the full hardware comparison with other smart phones in our previous post.
