The latest Android 4.4 KitKat which debut on the Nexus 5 is now rolling out to earlier Nexus tablets starting from today. This includes the Nexus 7 in both first and 2013 editions as well as its larger Nexus 10 tablet. For now the update is only available for WiFi models. For those having the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 with 3G/4G, the update will be rolled out sometime later.
To update, keep an eye out for update notification or you can check manually under Settings > About > System Updates. If you are not getting it, there’s a way to get KitKat manually. Android Central has provided a step-by-step guide which involves downloading the Android SDK and loading it up manually through a computer. Do note that this only works on stock Nexus 7 or 10 tablets running on its official Android 4.3 OS. If you can’t wait, head over here but proceed with caution.
