Some iPhone 5S are plagued with high battery drain and slow charging reports The New York Times. According to an Apple spokesperson, the battery issue is affecting a “very limited number” of devices and is attributed to a manufacturing defect:
“We recently discovered a manufacturing issue affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5S devices that could cause the battery to take longer to charge or result in reduced battery life,” said Teresa Brewer, an Apple spokeswoman. “We are reaching out to customers with affected phones and will provide them with a replacement phone.”
What is not clear is how many iPhones are affected by this defect and whether the issue is isolated to certain variants of the iPhone 5S designated for different countries — in this case the US. So at this moment, it is unsure whether iPhones designated for Malaysia are affected by this.
