The 2013 HTC One family now comes in three models – HTC One mini, HTC One and the recently announced HTC One Max. The 3 siblings feature an identical design and aluminium body making it one of our favourite looking smart phones to date. All of them share similar features such as Boom Sound front facing speakers and its Ultra Pixel camera which emphasizes on larger 2 micron pixel size for better low light performance.

Is bigger better? If we look closely at the HTC One Max, a couple of features found on the 4.7″ HTC One is missing on the newer model. The famed Beats Audio enhancement has disappeared and so is the Optical Image Stabiliser that’s found on the HTC One. On the plus side, the 5.9″ HTC One Max now comes with a removable back cover which gives you access to a expandable microSD card.

While the One Max runs on the same 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB of RAM as its smaller 4.7″ HTC One, it isn’t the most powerful device coming from HTC currently. It’s other glossy looking cousin, the HTC Butterfly S with a 5″ screen runs on a more faster 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor.

In addition, the Butterfly S battery capacity is a rather generous with 3,200mAh rating and overall it is 57 grams lighter than the HTC One Max. If having a fingerprint scanner isn’t critical, the HTC Butterfly S seems to be a more sensible device to get plus it is a size that’s more comfortable for single handed use.

Check out the comparison of the HTC One Max, the HTC One, HTC One mini and the Butterfly S after the break.
