Here’s how to get an iPhone 5C or iPhone 5S in Malaysia ahead of launch

UPDATE: As we come closer to imminent iPhone 5C & iPhone 5S launch in Malaysia, iPMart has reduced its pricing with the iPhone 5C 16GB going for RM1,915 followed by iPhone 5S 16GB at RM2,849, 32GB at RM3,249 and 64GB at RM3,449.

UPDATE 2: It’s official. iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S Malaysia launch happening on 1st November.

UPDATE 3: Malaysia Apple Online Store reveals official iPhone 5C price from RM1,999 and iPhone 5S price from RM2,399. Full pricing details here.

The iPhone 5C & iPhone 5S has officially rolled out in a several first wave countries including Singapore. While the new iPhones have yet to reached Malaysia officially, a couple of online retailers including a group buying site have started offering the iPhone 5S and 5C locally. If you can’t wait to buy one, read on.

Local retailer IPmart has listed the colourful iPhone 5C 16GB units at RM2,149 while the higher spec iPhone 5S is listed at RM2,999 for the Black 16GB model and RM3,399 for the White 32GB unit. Alternatively, Groupon Malaysia is also offering the iPhone 5C at RM2,199. For more bling, Lazada is selling the Gold iPhone 5S at a hefty RM4,199 for 16GB and RM4,299 for the 32GB model.

Obviously these are considered grey-import / AP set units. So for warranty claims, you would need to send your iPhones back to the place you’ve gotten from. If you think these prices are crazy, that’s the cost to bear as an early adopter in Malaysia which gives you the pleasure of holding an exclusive phone for a couple of months before it is officially rolled out in Malaysia. Last year, the iPhone 5 was launched in Malaysia in December and it is very likely that we would be getting the 5C/5S much earlier than that.

According to some industry sources, the iPhone 5C & iPhone 5S might be rolled out as early as late October or early November. We reckon it is more worth while to wait for a couple of months for Malaysian units.
