While BlackBerry is having some rough times, BGR has stumbled upon some images of what appears to be their upcoming low-cost device. Codenamed Kopi, this QWERTY device will be positioned below the current Blackberry Q5 and it is expected to come without 4G LTE support. With it comes a familiar BlackBerry Curve-like keyboard, a removable battery and expandable microSD slot. From a screenshot, it is spotted running on the latest BlackBerry 10.2 OS.

Pricing seems to be BlackBerry’s weakness as it is priced rather high compared to its competitors of the same range. At least for now, we’ve seen some realistic pricing with the recently introduced 5″ BlackBerry Z30 priced at RM1,998. The existing BlackBerry Z10s are currently priced at RM1,799 for 3G and RM1,899 for the 4G LTE version. For those into QWERTY, the flagship Q10 is priced at RM2,488 and its current entry level (or soon to be mid-level) Q5 is priced at RM1,299. BlackBerry is also said to be working on low-cost full touch screen device dubbed C-Series that’s a notch lower than the current Z10.

So far there’s no pricing and availability information yet for the new Kopi device. If they intended this for the masses, it should be priced more competitively against the entry level Androids and Windows Phone devices.

Head after the break for more close up shot of the device.
