Samsung announces refreshed Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition

Apart from the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear smart watch, Samsung has also refreshed its Galaxy Note 10.1 with improved hardware and an updated design. Dubbed as the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, the new model is also smaller & lighter than the previous model yet its 10.1″ screen pushes a higher WQXGA 2560×1600 resolution. This is similar as the Nexus 10 which gives a pixel density of 300ppi.

Powering the new Note 10.1 for 2014 is a choice of a 1.9GHz Octa-core processor for the 3G and WiFi or a 2.3GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 processor for the LTE version. Just like the Galaxy Note 3, it comes with a whooping 3GB of RAM as well. There are 3 storage options to choose from with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB with the option to expand using microSD.

The camera on the Note 10.1 has been upgraded as well to 8MP for the main shooter and maintains the same 2MP for the front. There’s no 4K video recording on this one but it still manages to shoot 1080p HD videos at 60 fps for the main camera and 30 fps for the front. Since this is designed for productivity on the go, the battery has been upgraded with more juice with 8,220mAh, which is 18% from its former 7,000mAh battery capacity. Yet surprisingly it manages to shave off 1mm from its thickness (7.9mm) and weighs even lighter at just 535 grams.

In terms of design, it also features a leather back design just like the newly introduced Galaxy Note 3 and it comes with a choice of Jet Black and Classic White colour. Over at the front, the 2014 model now comes with additional physical home buttons and the usual 2 capacitive buttons on the side like what you would normally found on a smart phone or compact tablet which looks quite odd on a tablet this size.

Head after the break for more promo photos of the Note 10.1 2014 edition.
