Before HTC reveals its new HTC One Max, the Taiwanese maker has announced a couple of mid to entry level devices to fill the gap for now. First we have the HTC Desire 601, which looks like an upgraded Desire 600 without having dual-sim support. Next we have the Desire 300 which is an entry level device and both are expected to be available on October onwards.

Head after the break for more details of the two smart phones.

HTC Desire 601

Just like the Desire 600, it comes with a 4.5″ qHD display capable of pushing 960×540 pixels and it also comes with HTC’s signature Boom Sound dual-speakers on the front. While it supports only a single SIM, its internals get a rather huge bump with a faster 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM. On board it has 8GB of storage which fortunately can be expanded with microSD.

For shooting photos and videos, it comes with a modest 5MP back-lit f/2.0 camera which comes with a rather wide 28mm lens. Over at the front, there’s a VGA camera for self shots or video conferencing. Despite its mid-spec credentials, it comes with a rather generous 2,100mAh battery and it even supports 4G LTE networks on both 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands. Overall, the Desire 601 is 9.88mm thick and weighs a modest 130 grams.

For more information, you can head over to HTC’s Desire 601 page.

HTC Desire 300

For those on the budget, the Desire 300 comes with a smaller 4.3″ screen which does a modest WVGA resolution of 800×480. Powering the device is a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1GHz with 512MB of RAM. The phone comes with just 4GB of storage but you can expand this further with a microSD card.

In the imaging department, you’ll get a 5MP camera with a lower F/2.8 aperture and 34mm lens. Over at the front, it comes with a VGA camera. With a 1,650mAh battery, the Desire 300 weighs 120 grams and has a thickness of 10.12mm. More details of the entry level Desire 300 on its product page.
